A World of Info for Global Travelers

Taking a Pet Overseas?

Most airlines have a section on their website explaining their rules regarding pets - fees, size of crate, markings if going in cargo, temperature guidelines and health certificate info, however, if traveling overseas, it is best to check with the embassy or consulate of the country you are visiting.

This link takes you to our embassy page where you will find a list of all the foreign embassies in Washington.

If moving to another country, some people prefer to ship a dog or cat via a ground carrier like DHL or Fed Ex. Or there's a great site called PetTravel that has a wealth of info about taking your pet along.

The Centers for Disease Control also has a great page if worried about
health issues - http://www.cdc.gov/animalimportation/TravelingPets.html -
or go to the CDC home page and look up Pet Travel.
