The TD Bank Beach to
Beacon 10K Road Race was founded in 1998 by Olympic gold
medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson. The courscses beautiful Cape
Elizabeth, finishing at Portland Head Lighthouse. The race attracts a
capacity crowd of 6,000 paicipants each year and sold out in less than one
hour in 2009.

The CIGNA Falmouth Road
Race has been in existence since 1973. The 7 mile course
follows the shoreline from Woods Hole near Nobska Lighthouse Point and finishes
at the beach in Falmouth Heights. The event selects 10,000 participants
lottery each year. In 2009, the race raised $1.4 million for
Liechtenstein (See Switzerland and Liechtenstein )
